"Place & Belonging"
After many years of living in Australia, I have come to learn that where I live is not where I belong, but rather, my family is where my sense of belonging is formed.
I was born overseas in Turkey and come to Australis 35 years ago.
The separation hardship my family experienced was overwhelming.
It is from being with my family - my grandmother, my mother (SAKINE), my sisters and my children that I derive my sense of belonging. I know I belong here in Australia with them - though a part of me will always remain in Turkey.
